Mother of the Nation Park Wins ASLA Colorado Award of Merit in 2015

BrightView Design Group Wins ASLA Colorado Merit Award for Mother of the Nation Park

BrightView Design Group, one of the nation’s largest landscape architecture and planning practices, was recognized at this year’s American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Colorado Design Awards with an Award of Merit in the Design category for Mother of the Nation Park (formerly named Mushrif Central Park). Located in Abu Dhabi, UAE, this “park for the people” features amenities like an amphitheater, numerous playgrounds, botanical gardens and a petting zoo — all connected by a 420 meter long water feature. Opened in March 2015, the park’s design honors the legacy of the late UAE founder, Sheikh Zayed bin Sulant Al Nahyan and serves as an example of sustainable design for the region. Says BrightView Design Group Principal, Brent Lloyd, “Beyond creating a beautiful place to play and gather, our team understood the significant cultural impact of Mushrif Central Park on the Abu Dhabi community. Thoughtful attention to detail throughout the project helped to integrate the park’s vision with their sustainability goals. This ASLA award is a celebration of our true team effort.”
