Kartika Rachmawati Wins Rio Salado Reimagined Design Competition

Denver Studio Associate, Kartika Rachmawati along with Michael Krause of Arizona-based architecture firm krause recently won the AIA (American Institute of Architects) / ULI Arizona “Rio Reimagined 2018” international design competition, which seeks to provide a vision for future development along the Rio Salado river. Their concept – ECO2 – envisions an exponential-loop economy of ecologically regenerative arid-land urbanism. ECO2 combines sustainable technologies with landscape principals for the in-situ removal of soil contaminants from the Rio Salado to refuel a resilient desert community and transform it into an economic backbone for the region.
